Founded in 1988, Crystal Coast Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seek to put God's love into action by building homes, communities, and hope. Serving Carteret and Onslow counties, Crystal Coast Habitat for Humanity aims to eliminate substandard housing through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes. They are an advocate for fair and just housing policies and provide resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
"Our vision is a world where everyone has access to affordable housing. Our local Habitat chapter has built over 100 homes and over 80 access ramps in our 36 year history."
We all know the impact that Habitat for Humanity has on communities all across the world, including right here in Carteret County. If you want to make an immediate difference, partnering with our Crystal Coast chapter of Habitat is the way to do it. Below are three ways you can help:
- VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME — Whether you put in some elbow grease at a construction site or donate your time at Habitat's ReStore, volunteers work under the guidance of supervisors, and also alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners. It's a beautiful way to have a tangible impact on our community!
- DONATE TO THE RESTORE — Leftover construction materials? Lightly used appliances or furniture? The ReStore, located off of Highway 70 in Newport always welcomes donations. Your household goods may be tax-deductible and helps our local Habitat team build stable and affordable homes in the community. 5898 Highway 70, Newport • Open Tuesday-Saturday from 9am-4pm
- ATTEND A FUNDRAISER EVENT — Here are two great options:
- Casino Night • August 9th Swansboro Rotary Civic Center • Casino Games • 1-42 Band • Prizes • Tickets: habitatcrystalcoast.org
- Duck Derby • Sept. 21st Jacksonville Commons • Adopt a duck • Watch the race • Win up to $1,000! duckrace.com/jacksonville
