MCKRE Gives Graduate Gratitude Scholarship

"WE CANNOT ALWAYS BUILD THE FUTURE FOR OUR YOUTH, BUT WE CAN BUILD OUR YOUTH FOR THE FUTURE." - FDR

This past June, MCKRE Gives launched the Graduate Gratitude Scholarship, asking local high school seniors to film a short video about what they're most grateful for within the Carteret County Public School System.

Our team selected four seniors across the county to receive a scholarship for their next educational venture and also made a donation in their name to a local charity of their choice. Our winners chose the following local nonprofits: the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain, Hope Mission of Carteret County, Family Promise of Carteret County, and Rock Steady Boxing (an initiative helping those with Parkinson's) at the Sports Center of Morehead.

By choosing to partner with our team, our clients helped MCKRE Gives donate $4,500 back into our community through these high school seniors and the local non-profit organizations they chose!

We are so lucky to have students like these making an impact in our community. Check out the following update on each scholarship recipient!

BELLA COUNTS

Bella, a graduate from West Carteret, is attending UNC-Chapel Hill as part of the honors program. She is planning to explore her academic options, but hopes to concentrate in English and political science.

GINI KESTNER

After walking across the stage to accept her diploma from East Carteret, Gini began taking courses at Carteret Community College. She is enjoying her cosmetology classes and is looking forward to her future in the field.

ANNA KEITH SULLIVAN

Anna Keith is furthering her education at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she is studying history. She is most excited about exploring additional interests to accompany her major and help her identify her career path.

JAVARIS MILLER

This special young man was nominated by his teachers at West Carteret for this scholarship. Javaris is continuing his academic and athletic career at Aces Elite Sport Academy, a junior college in Clemmons, NC, where he'll be playing football.
