BEAUFORT BEAUTY: 207 FAIRVIEW DRIVE

Beaufort is known for its maritime history and romantic lore. It was a port town during the Civil War as well as a hangout for pirates including Blackbeard himself, the most notorious of them all! What was once a small fishing village is now a town that boasts historic homes and Queen Anne cottages, old live oaks, and Taylor's Creek— where folks flock to in droves— for kayak tours and to see wild horses on its banks.

Head over to Jones Village, an established community minutes from downtown Beaufort. The homes here have large yards with wide streets — built for bike riders as this road is part of the Beaufort designated bike route. Folks are able to pedal past the house and down a winding and scenic route for fun! Other ideas to pass the time are right within a mile or so. Shop a selection of locally-owned boutiques, cafes and restaurants, art galleries, and local ghost tours that will quickly become your favorite haunts.

The home at 207 Fairview is eye-catching with its classic American Colonial-style good looks. The brick facade and simple, symmetrical design have a timeless appeal, and the mix of black trim and sky-blue door is a stunning contemporary touch. The inside is delightfully bright with large, livable square rooms. The gorgeous kitchen is a showstopper with copper light fixtures, a deep sink, and a checkerboard tile floor— the pattern of which is echoed in the subway tile backsplash and mirrored beautifully in the stone of the fireplace living room. These two spaces were opened up creating an abundance of natural light, yet they maintain a level of separation, too, that make this setup the best of both worlds.

For those times when peace and solitude are paramount or if you like a getaway room for secret-telling or meditation, head through the original French doors to the sweet sitting room with its own fireplace and relax. Like many other spots in the house, this room features shiplap walls and so much charm.

The upstairs of this home greets you with a surprisingly wide hallway and primary bedrooms on either side, with a guest room in the middle. Each bedroom thoughtfully includes its own bath. To the right, you will find your first choice for sleeping— this bedroom has a brick fireplace and so much space to do what you please, whether it's to rest or exercise, study, or watch movies into the wee hours of the night. The ensuite bath is hotel-like, and its use is a sure-fire strategy for inner happiness and tranquility. The walk-in shower with geometric tile work and cool marble countertops look five-star for sure!

Another advantage this home has is the upstairs washer and dryer and an abundance of storage space. The attic is floored and is a loft-worth of floor space to store your Christmas boxes, photo albums, castoff furniture, and more. Or, finish it off for a game or theater room, art or yoga studio — the options are endless!

You will enjoy the outdoors here, too, with a screened-in porch perfect for cool fall evenings and warmer spring and summer mornings sipping a glass of wine or cup of coffee. The firepit in the side yard makes the cooler nights a dream. Make s'mores, grab the hot chocolate, watch for shooting stars and count your lucky ones from this address!
