Option #1

Journey to Oysterbelle to capture the essence and joy of far-away places. Settled in its new location in the heart of downtown Morehead City, this cherished spot mixes local finds with treasures from abroad. Channel your inner globetrotter here, with this tour around the world, centered by its deep roots at home.  Oysterbelle is a landscape for the home, for the self and for the senses. Soft fabrics, white china and wide-brimmed summer hats mix with the scent of jasmine candles and soaps to set the mood for this visionary, upscale boutique.

Travel to Morocco in mind and spirit for Kilims and coverlets, baskets and more. Hand-woven textiles from Marrakech are bold in execution and color — deep reds, soft cayenne, indigo and plum. Enhance any room or mood with the timeless decor and gifts found here. Leather goods and gold are perennial classics.  Pop a woven navy clutch on your wrist, and adorn your ears with gilded half-shells for a splash of style and sparkle and to stand out at the beach!

Oysterbelle itself will dazzle you. It is welcoming, worldly and refined… and so worth the shop!

Option #2

No trip through Beaufort would be complete without a stop at the North Carolina Maritime Museum. It is the quintessential, destination for capturing the essence of the the rich marine history and feel of the past. Gain insights into what life was like long ago, when fishing reigned supreme and whales swam the seas.  Delve into the legends and intrigue… Blackbeard the Pirate roamed these very streets. Learn how he wreaked havoc and see evidence of his sunken ship The Queen Anne’s Revenge.

Make sure you walk over to the Harvey W. Smith Watercraft Center just across the street. Learn the art of wooden boat building, or just admire the artistry and skill of others. The building itself is a beauty, as is the view of Taylor’s Creek. Book a party or wedding here like our own Liz Waine, who spent a joyous time tying the knot with husband Mike and their families in tow.

Our listing specialist, Liz, strutting down the aisle with her (then) new hubby, Mike, at the Maritime Museum in Beaufort during their wedding a few years ago. This segment of the Maritime Museum is a wonderful place to host an event OR learn more about boat building.

Option #3

Doing something fun is, well… fun! As well as good times, there are benefits and boosts to choosing an engaging activity over kicking back. Learning something new and being creative is more than just enjoyable. Creativity fosters freedom and self expression…and is the road to authenticity.  The focus and flow that goes with tackling the task at hand is also the perfect counterpoint to a crazy day and a stellar way to de-stress. All is well with glass of wine in one hand and a paintbrush in the other!

At Wine & Design, sign up and show up, you need not do more. Local artists will guide you and a date or your best group of girls  through the process; paints, brushes and canvases are provided. Paint your pet, tropical palms, or learn the ways of hand lettering…what better way to spark new friendships and cement the ones you already have than making memories and your very own masterpiece.
