“Home is where our story begins…”
Some departures from the norm this past year have been more subtle than others, but from the mundane to the monumental, the ripple effect has had far-reaching consequences. One element of this chain reaction includes the vital decision of where we choose to lay our heads at night.
This modified lifestyle has been fueled by a set of new goals that reflect our current, collective mindset. We recognize that as a whole, we have been asking newfangled questions about our future and where and how we choose to live in it. What we discovered is that now, more than ever, we want to put roots down where it’s warm and where there is plenty of open space. We want a neighborhood that is safe, serene and friendly. Inside our homes, we want a kickass office, a kitchen for cooking big meals, space for the kiddos (as well as the myriad of pets) and we want to be able to host guests or the in-laws. We need a place that is comfortable— both indoors and out with access to activities that we enjoy. Home is where it all happens, so the house must be all that and a bag of chips, too! Finding a home that checks all the boxes is one option and remodeling is another. It can be the one you’re in now, one with potential, or simply starting from scratch with new construction —the house you hope for can be the one you have!
Recently, we found ourselves also asking our clients about homeownership and what has shaped their decisions to buy or sell their homes. We spoke specifically to the sellers of 1801 Clubhouse Drive about the home they’re leaving and the new home they will be building.
This couple, who bought this home, knew before they moved in that they would make big changes to make it their own. With grown children, their priorities had changed and so had their needs and wants along the way. Understanding purpose, function and intention were key and that included knowing who and how the home would be used before they started their renovation. Having an open-flow floor plan and being able to entertain were key as was bringing the beauty of the outdoors in. To start, the couple chose the stone fireplace as the home’s focal point and worked on from there.
Every inch of this home is an impressive showcase of tasteful design. Each room has been masterfully planned to incorporate the sellers’ habits and daily activities with ease, featuring the contemporary style they love with elegant touches and eye-catching details. From top to bottom and front to back, every inch of this property is a delight, as is this sweet and sought after neighborhood in Blair Farm.
The painted front porch is a fitting and welcome entrance and is perfect for sipping coffee in the mornings, lounging on warm and breezy afternoons or settling in with a glass of wine in the evening — the time of day this couple loves to spend time with friends. Cooking together was a huge priority for this duo, too, and the kitchen reflects their passion. With restaurants experiencing limited capacity this past year, dining-in effortlessly has proved to be more valuable than ever. The chef’s kitchen at this address would make even the most experienced culinary master swoon!
These sellers incorporated harmonious design elements throughout the interior, using pattern, line and form to brilliant effect. They updated all the details and fixtures using texture and tactile, organic pieces that blend together beautifully. The living room is a joy to behold and be in —the charcoal colored slate floors are balanced out by pale-toned walls, multi-toned wood ceilings and the centerpiece stone fireplace that echoes the geometric pattern overhead. The atmosphere they created lends itself to time spent indoors, serenity and peace, whether with family or enjoying the quiet together.
Architectural elements add interest and beauty throughout — shiplap, tongue and groove ceilings, chair rails, crown molding, built-in bookcases and more— luxurious details that make this house a lovingly updated home and livable space.
The outside areas were a crucial element of the rehab, as spending time in the sunshine was paramount for these two! They wanted a place that was peaceful and provided fresh air, that was spacious and resonated with a relaxed vibe. The back porch is ideal for winding down your day with a cup of tea or a cocktail!
These folks are moving on from this home and have decided to build on the water, recognizing their current needs for a similar space but one that incorporates their updated preferences and wants. Gone, for some, are the days of downsizing in retirement, later in life, or settling— what we have also learned is that we have one life and we must live it! Now is the time to assess your needs and the lifestyle you want. Your home, work, fun and life can blend seamlessly and harmoniously together to provide you with all your heart desires. NOW is the time to live your best life — at 1801 Clubhouse Drive!
