Ami Pruett: Local artist with modern, unique flair

Posted in Blog on July 1, 2020 by Meg

The making of the MCKRE Magazine allows us to branch out and have conversations with local community members who are full of both talent and inspiration. Enter: Ami Pruett, who’s modern, minimal, peaceful style adorns prints, postcards, invitations, murals and even tattoos – all wonderful in their own unique way. Check out our chat with local artist and friend, Ami Pruett, below:

What is the catalyst behind your artwork?

I’ve been passionate about art for as long as I can remember, so to put my finger on one thing that drives me the most would be near impossible! It feels like the desire and need to create runs through my veins; it’s just simply part of who I am. I create because I know no other way to live!

What would you describe as your “style”?

The style that I gravitate toward the most with my art is a kind of modern cubism that is quite minimal in nature, and my most recognizable signature style is continuous line work, when my pen doesn’t lift off of the page until that element of the piece is finished. It’s challenging but incredibly satisfying!

We see that you do commissioned work and prints – what are some other types of products that you offer in terms of artwork?

As well as commissioned pieces and fine art prints, I also design logos and brand packages, wedding invitations, and have done larger scale murals in the past. I’m also open to collaborations with clothing and lifestyle brands at the moment, as I think it would be fun to see my art on lots of different products!

What do you hope people feel when they look at your pieces?

I always count it a great honor when my work evokes emotion in people. I love how art invites a person to pause in the middle of a busy day, take a deep breath, enter into a space of beauty and rest for a moment, and go forth with gratitude and joy. It is an incredible privilege to contribute that to someone’s home or workspace.

If you could describe your artwork in 3 words, what would it be?

Minimal, modern, peaceful.

What are the best ways for folks to reach you regarding a commissioned piece?

Feel free to visit my website at www.amipruett.com and/or email me on [email protected]. I love meeting new clients and working closely with them to produce custom artwork that they will treasure forever!
